This fresh spring water is a truly-refreshing thirst quencher. It’s available at a spot about 14 km at the mid-way point of the Mt. Osore Highway running between the city and Mt. Osore, which is surrounded by a cypress grove.
The main peak of Mt. Kamafuse stands 879 m above sea level and is the greatest in the Shimokita Peninsula. There is a two-story observation tower near the top of the peak accessible by the Mt. Osore Highway.
There is a nice walking path to the very top and from there, you can get a magnificent 360°panoramic view.
You can get a good view of the city and Mutsu Bay right below your eyes, a distant view of the peaks of Mt. Hakkoda, and a view of Hokkaido to the north. During nighttime, the city lights create a view that looks as though glittering butterflies are flying in the dark sky. MAP
